History

This assessment is designed to help you collect information that will assist you in the purchase of a dental practice. 

 

It is as a result of over 8 months work and over 50 dental practice viewings. Today's dental practice market is very competitive, with practices being sold at a premium. This is one of the biggest investments we will make in our lives, so it needs to be well informed and researched. Recent regulations and the presence of big corporates has made this so difficult for the younger generation that they are scared of even thinking of buying a dental practice.

 

We attended our first business of dentistry course set up by the BDA in June 2013 and we were staggered by how little we knew about what it would be involved in buying a dental practice. Furthermore, we were also surprised that we were the youngest delegates attending this course and some other delegates, many of whom were older then us, also did not have a grasp of the steps that are involved in buying a dental practice.

 

​We originally came up with a 'selection criteria' document, which we used to present information to other dentists, bank managers and accountants for advice. We got very impressive feedback and stumbled across the idea of creating a unique assessment document. We would like to share it with others who would like to buy a dental practice. Hence we developed the Fire Ant Assessment, which is available to download for free.
